2022
- June 2022: I successfully defended my PhD! I am so excited to be moving to Oberlin later this month to start my new position!
- April 2022: Our paper on Holocene nearshore marine mollusk shell geochemistry is finally out! This is the paper that matches our database published last September, available at https://doi.pangaea.de/10.1594/PANGAEA.941373.
- March 2022: I am so excited to officially announce that I have accepted a position as an Assistant Professor in the Geology Department at Oberlin College! I am so looking forward to starting this fall.
- January 2022: I'm happy to announce the publication of part of my dissertation work in Biogeosciences!
2021

- October 2021: Congratulations to Lupe Carrasco for presenting his work at the SACNAS National Diversity in STEM Conference!
- September 2021: My collaborators and I just published our data synthesis work called "A database of Holocene nearshore marine mollusc shell geochemistry from the Northeast Pacific" in PANGAEA! It is open-access and available for access at https://doi.pangaea.de/10.1594/PANGAEA.941373.
- July 2021: Just finished up my first time attending the Earth Educators' Rendezvous! It was a really enriching experience and I can't wait to use some of these new teaching resources.
- June 2021: Began research with Lupe Carrasco, an SRJC student, as part of the BML-SRJC internship. Lupe is also an NSF REU researcher! Welcome, Lupe! Our goal is to present his research at the SACNAS conference in Fall 2021.
- April 2021: Just learned that I received Durrell funding from my department to carry out remaining analyses for my dissertation research. I am looking forward to this final batch of laboratory work!!
- March 2021: Earned the UC Davis-wide Chancellor's Achievement Award for Diversity and Community! This was a surprise and a great honor!
- March 2021: Very exciting news from my undergraduate mentee, L. Garcia, who just got accepted to Stanford's Summer Undergraduate Research in Geoscience and Engineering (SURGE)! Congratulations to her!
2020
- October 2020: Presented at two virtual conferences: Society for the Advancement of Chicanxs/Hispanics and Native Americans in STEM and GSA Connects Online 2020.
- September 2020: Developed and began teaching the graduate-level seminar GEL 232 Oceans and Climate: Biogenic Carbonates. This class was a great success and very fun to develop and lead! My co-instructors and I hope to teach it again during a future quarter.
- August 2020: Elected President of the Association for Women Geoscientists (AWG) UC Davis Student Chapter! As President, I founded the AWG Gear Exchange Program, the GeoMInS program, and the AWG Mentorship Program.
- June 2020: Completed a term serving as the Earth and Planetary Sciences Department's Seminar Coordinator and Graduate Student Representative to the Faculty.
- March 2020: Earned a Geological Society of America (GSA) Grad Student Research Grant to prepare thin sections of mussel specimens and conduct imaging analyses!
- February 2020: Presented at the Ocean Sciences Meeting in San Diego! It was great to meet new collaborators and talk about growth bands and high-resolution marine records!
2019
- October 2019: Wrapped up my research position at the California Academy of Sciences working on organizing, cataloguing, and analyzing UNOCAL foraminifera records as part of a collaborative NSF project: The Holocene and Anthropocene as windows into the future of marine systems
- July 2019: Passed my Qualifying Exam--I am officially a PhD Candidate!
- April 2019: Earned the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program Award!
